The AmericanSchool
of Equine Dentistry promotes an integrated approach to equine health care.
Our students become an essential part of the equine health care team by promoting equine health and natural
balance from head to toe.
Proper dental maintenance is essential to allow peak performance and harmony between the horse and rider.
Thorough dental care relying on horsemanship skills and proper training can:
- prevent premature tooth loss and promote more complete utilization of feed,
- reduce the incidence of impaction and gas colic, alleviate tempormandibular joint pain,
- allow a less stressful eruption of the permanent teeth by the timely removal of shedding deciduous teeth (caps),
- prevent pain due to the use of a bit, making it easier for the horse to be trained, and to provide other benefits.

“Hey Dr Hyde, I have just completed work on my 125th horse! Things are going great and getting better. Work
has really picked up and I am doing around 20 horses a week, sometimes more. Just traveled to New Braunfels, by
San Antonio, to do 12 horses. My busiest week was around thirty horses. I really love what I do, it is great. Thanks
again for sharing your knowledge with me. Tell your family I said 'Howdy’! Adios, Matt - (past
student June 2006) |

"Dr. Hyde - I have to tell you how pleased I was with your visit this past Tuesday. I was very impressed
by the thoroughness of your students, technicians and yourself. Your approach to handling my mare and gelding was
quite non-stressful for them and me. I wish I had known this was going to be such an enlightening event - I would
have had some of the 4-H kids out to observe. I know I tried to pay attention and learn something! I look forward
to having you and your crew out next year." ~ Donna McGraw, Ally and Eddie |
